RIABiz has covered the RIA business for over a decade. If something is happening inside a firm — a deal, a departure, a practice that doesn't sit right — this is how to tell us without putting your name to it.

Dates, names, documents you've seen — whatever you have. If you're not sure it matters, send it anyway.

We strip metadata before an editor sees your files — EXIF location and device details from photos, author and company names from documents.

If you know how to strip it yourself before uploading, do that too. It means you never have to take our word for it.

Leave this unchecked and we have no way to reach you. That's the point — check it only if you want a reporter to be able to come back with questions.

We don't record your IP address or browser on the tip itself.

What we keep, and what we don't

  • Your name is optional — and off by default

    The contact fields stay closed unless you open them. Leave them alone and we have no way to reach you. Open them only if you want a reporter to be able to come back with questions.

  • We don't attach your identity to the tip

    Your tip is stored with no IP address, browser or device recorded against it — the table has no columns for them — and we run no advertising on this page. RIABiz does use analytics and consent cookies across the rest of the site, and our servers keep short-lived traffic logs as any website does. None of that is joined to what you write here.

  • Read, then deleted

    An editor reads it and deletes it, unless we're pursuing a story from it — and what we do pursue is kept only as long as the reporting needs. That deletion is done by a person rather than a timer, and routine encrypted backups can hold a copy for a short period before they expire.

  • We publish stories, not tips

    Nothing you send appears on the site. If your information leads somewhere, we report it out and confirm it independently before a word is published.

  • If this is genuinely sensitive

    Don't send it from a work device, a work email address, or your employer's network; that trail exists whatever we do at our end. Use a personal device on your own connection, and consider an email address that isn't tied to your name. We strip metadata from anything you attach, but stripping it yourself first is better — it means you never have to take our word for it. For anything higher-risk: tips@riabiz.com
