Sallie Krawcheck, citing a health issue, hands day-to-day operations to co-CEOs, but will remain on the board as it reworks RIA's strategy after pioneering, ten-year run from startup to $2.4 billion in AUM

Connie Hsiung, 38, will fill CEO role of 60-year-old Ellevest co-founder, who was noted for being disarmingly blunt about her frustrations in making the robo-advisor for women hum.

Sallie Krawcheck, the prominent founder of the largest RIA focused on women investors, Ellevest, with $2 billion under management, announced her retirement today due to undisclosed health issue.Sallie was a female pioneer in the Wall Street patriarchy, having defied the odds to become by age 50, the first woman executive to head wealth management units at wire houses Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch. Krawcheck has been a role model to generations of women on Wall Street and beyond, having begun her career as an investment analyst and risen through the ranks like no other woman before her. Her work at Ellevest continues under protégées Connie Hsiang, co-founder and Sylvia S. Kwan, as Krawcheck retains a seat on the board. I choose to remember Sallie for all she accomplished and building a $2 billion RIA, while an unfinished fintech story, is the only latest chapter of her storied career. I hope she gets her due!
