Brad Herman has joined a newly minted San Francisco-based hybrid advisor as wealth strategist and one of its five named founders.

Catalyst Private Wealth, which opened its Montgomery Street doors for business last month, caters to clients who "carry outsized risks, concentrated stock positions and the need for comprehensive planning to navigate liquidity before, during and after an event," according to the firm.

Herman was most recently vice president in the Seattle office of Highland Capital Brokerage, where he advised UHNW advisors on estate, tax, business succession and risk management strategies. In 2009, he joined New York-based Union Bank’s Private Bank in its San Francisco office, serving as a wealth strategist in increasingly senior roles.

Graduating from San Diego State University with a BS in business administration and finance in 2006, Herman brings the firm's millennial leadership count to three. The other founders are Brendan Connaughton, managing director; John Dodd, chief investment officer; Mitch Sands; and Bryan Wilson.

Catalyst is under the umbrella of Casper, Wyo.-based Mutual Advisors LLC, an RIA roll-up for self-branded firms with $777,000,000 of assets under management, according to its ADV.

"We have the ability to leverage that disruption as we work with clients whose business initiatives, to a certain extent, are driving the disruption," said Herman in a statement. "It's an exciting time in our business."
