The content on your blog is awesome. I read it regularly and it’s valuable. However, the “click here for the full story” thing is a real pain. Why do you force us to do this? Why not just post the whole story in the feed? You could embed the ads in the feed and that would be cool. We’ve all got to make a buck. Otherwise, excellent content.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the feedback!

It turns out we are in the process of building a more sophisticated syndication system that will allow us to do just what you’ve suggested [bring the advertisers to the people, instead of having to bring the people to the advertisers].

However, as Brooke pointed out to me in our conversation about your comment, you wouldn’t have had the opportunity to comment at all if you had never come to the site to read the article. We value comments and many of our readers do too. As it stands now, you also don’t see comments in the feed, which we don’t like.

Hopefully we can split the difference, and come up with something that makes it as easy as possible for folks to read RIABiz and still encourages them to come to the site if they have a comment. We celebrate every time a good discussion breaks out.

Thanks for your response. I wouldn’t underestimate advisors’ tech savvy. If I feel strongly enough about a post, I’m going to hit “V” in Google Reader and go leave a comment, but only if I’m not annoyed with the technology in the first place. If I had to read the comments on every post, I’d go crazy.
Remember, social networking (including the “Like” and “Share” on Google Reader, but also Diggs, etc.) is part of the metadata behind your content that is probably as important as comments, and this metadata is part of the experience that a blog author cannot control.

Again, you have excellent content (as good as what I’ve paid for from well-known authors in this space), and that’s what holds my attention. Keep your content open and I’ll keep coming back.
